PRMICSW 2012
Q & A - Sessions, Showcase & More...

WHAT IS DATE WITH A DEMO?

The demo critique is your chance to meet fellow songwriters and begin or expand your network, while getting personal feedback on
your demo from a distinguished panel that can include pro songwriters, A&R reps, publishers, music supervisors, and more.

The panelists are Duane Steele, Blair Packham of SAC, Robbie Josh Gwilliam of Pilot Audio Studio, & Kent Schumaker the
music director of YL Country & KIX 106.

Music of all genres and songwriters of all levels are welcome. It is not necessary to bring a song to attend and hear what the
panelists have to say.

Songs must be submitted on audio CD* and are selected at random. Please bring 4 copies of your lyrics for the panelists.
Your CD and lyrics will be returned at the end of the night. A section of the song is played for the entire group, followed by comments
from the panel on the relative merits of each song from both a craft and business point of view.

*please check that the CD plays in a regular CD player.

HOW CAN I PLAY IN THE SHOWCASE?

If you are part of the songwriting workshop you will automatically be performing in the Showcase performing the song you wrote that day!!
BUT if you would like an additional opportunity to perform your own original songs while sharing the stage with Duane Steele &
Blair Packham then submit your songs. There is a limited number of spaces and performers will be pre-selected through submission of their songs.
Successful performers will be notified by April 25th, 2012. So if you submit...practice just in case!!!

 WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY...

WHO are we?
We are
Dana Blayone and Sherry Crawford.  We are songwriters and singers who head up a band called No Limitz.
We are community volunteers who are passionate about songwriting, and being active the music business industry.
We believe in making a positive difference our world and the people who surround us.  This is what we call "The No Limitz Vortex".

HOW "No Limitz" came to be?
Sherry Crawford and Dana Blayone started out as an acoustic duo in 2003 when they discovered a sweet harmonic blend of their
vocals and from there the co-writing began.  Together they recorded their first CD in a closet with blankets hanging on the walls
with just enough space for a person and a microphone.  This home spun CD called "Dreamin' Big" brought much attention to their
talents and abilities as singer/songwriters that eventually the girls brought a team of talented musicians on board in 2005 when they
were invited to open for Johnny Reid and Corb Lund at a local festival.  It took their acoustic duo to a full vibrant sound. In 2007
Dana and Sherry took the band to Calgary to record their second album in MCC Recording Studio.  That fall the second album
named after the title track "I Know What I Know...and that's not everything." was released.
In July 2008, they released the single, "I
Know What I Know" from their 2nd album to national radio, and that winter they released their rockin’ Christmas song "CRANK UP THE
HEAT".  In 2011 and the 3rd Album was launched!  After the numerous music conferences, co-writing sessions, and
awesome road trips they narrowed this album to 10 INCREDIBLE songs.  Many of them they co-wrote with some amazing friends.
Produced by Josh Gwilliam, these songs lure you in with ear candy you can't resist.
It's music with its own personality and a band that
loves to continually blend genres. To date they have also shared the stage with Canadians artists such as Duane Steele, Sean Hogan,
Ian Tyson, Johnny Reid, Julian Austin, Steve Fox and Samantha King among many others.  Whether you're talking to them in person
or watching their performance, you will experience their positive energy that will have you believing there really are "No Limitz"!

WHY are we doing this?
Simply because we know that there is an abundance of talent in the Peace Region, but because of the challenges of our
demographics, it’s sometimes difficult to find opportunities to attend conferences. After attending numerous workshops and
conferences in Calgary, Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver and Moosejaw to name a few, we knew we could bring a similar event
right here to Peace River.  Since the first year of this conference, we experienced an amazing weekend where all of our delegates
left with feelings of accomplishment and happiness. Great relationships were formed and fantastic songs were written, and
business plans started.  We already have a number of registrations in for 2011 and are receiving more.  Music is a common thread
that brings people together regardless of age, gender, or level of ability.

WHO is the conference for?
Songwriters, musicians, singers, poets wanting to explore songwriting, anyone interested in more tips & hints to bring their music to new fans,
aspiring stars and the Parents of young aspiring stars between the ages 14 to 99!…anyone interested in learning more about the process of songwriting,
recording and the business of the music industry. Any level of ability is welcome to attend!

WHO is coming to this event?
CCMA award winning artist
Duane Steele, Blair Packham plus more Industry Panelists are being confirmed as
you are reading this.  Stay tuned!!!

WHAT is it all about?
It’s about learning, it’s about networking, it’s about expressing your talent and creativity, it’s about collaboration and it’s about
pursuing your dream!

WHAT will happen at this event?
Delegates will learn a little about the business of music from our panel of experts. There will be plenty of  Q&A periods and lots
of networking opportunities. Then, with the help of Duane & Blair, songwriters will experience two days of song writing
and showcasing, where they will have the opportunity to perform a song written that day for the Concert of Songwriters held
Saturday night!  They also have opportunity to showcase their individual work at the Concert & Jam.

WHEN is it?
May 4th & 5th, 2012. Begins Friday at 3:30pm ending Saturday night after the Showcase.  BUT WAIT... you can also write on Sunday May 6th
if you take advantage of writing rooms for rent.  Found someone you want to write with...stay an extra day!  For $25 a person you can stay and
write from 10am - 2pm, and it even includes soup & sandwich for lunch.  There are No Limitz to the opportunities.

WHERE is it being held?
In Peace River, Alberta, Canada at the
Belle Petroleum Centre.  Peace River is situated in a beautiful valley 500km north of
Edmonton, or 200km east of Grande Prairie.  The Peace River Valley will captivate you by its beauty and amazing people.  The
saying is...if your drink the water from the Peace River, you will be back.

WHERE should we stay?
The host hotel is the Peace River Sawridge Inn.  They have offer delegates a discount rate to stay there.  Just mention you are
with the "music conference" and they will honor the discount rate.
Sawridge Inn

HOW much does it cost?  How can I register?
Our
registration page has all the fees associated to the conference.  The fees include lunch on Saturday plus beverages and
snacks through out the day.  There is a $ 25 discount on registration if you are a member of Alberta Music Industry Association or
Songwriters Association of Canada.  The discount practically pays for half of the membership!! These organization help artists and
songwriters by being advocates, educators and can connect you with grants and opportunities. You can register
on-line and we will invoice
you for payment, or if you prefer to register by MAIL you can email us at our contact page or at singnolimitz@gmail.com or call
780-618-9139 or 780-618-1718 and we will send you a registration form with invoice.

WHY should other organizations help?
Because it’s all about people coming together to achieve common goals. It’s about supporting the youth of our communities and
mentoring them to become the best they can be. It’s about people helping people, young and old to fulfill their dreams or help
them discover new ones.  Together we can create a strong music industry here in the north!

HOW can you help?
FOUR ways you can help:

ONE important way to help is to spread the word about this event to everyone you know!  The best form of advertisement is
word of mouth.
  SO TELL EVERYONE!!

SECOND way to help:  The other form of help we need is to partner with a community based organization.   We are individuals
and not a society therefore we do not have access to certain grants that are offered to help fund these type of events. We are
always looking for financial support through whatever means individuals or corporations can contribute.
We appreciate all the
assistance our community offers.

THIRD way to help:  We are always looking for volunteers to help with everything and anything!  If you have a special talent that
you think can offer, please call us and let us know.  There are plenty of different jobs to go around!     Thx :)

FOURTH way to help is... to Donate.  Your financial sponsorship would help out with the many expenses that occur with the planning
and execution of a weekend like this. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
